Where to eat and drink

The area round White Scar Cave offers a wide choice for eating and drinking.  Choose from traditional country pubs, Italian restaurants, friendly cafés and even a dairy.

Cafés

As well as the café at the cave, there is an upstairs café at the walking and cave equipment shop Inglesport at nearby Ingleton.  On the A65 just west of Ingleton is the Country Harvest coffee shop and food hall.

Traditional Inns and Pubs

The Old Hill Inn dates from 1615, and was visited by Winston Churchill. It is 2 miles north of the cave.  In Ingleton are the Wheatsheaf, The Craven Heifer, The Three Horseshoes, and The Masons’ Arms. At nearby Austwick is the Game Cock Inn.

Brewery tours include the Black Sheep and Theakston breweries, both at Masham on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Restaurants

La Tavernetta is a small Italian restaurant in Ingleton.  4 miles from the cave at Kirkby Lonsdale are Avanti and S Restaurant. Nearby is Connors Restaurant in Whoop Hall Hotel at Burrow. Ravenous is at Settle (7 miles).

8 miles from the cave at Hawes is Calvert’s restaurant at the Wensleydale Creamery, where you can see cheese being made. Also in Hawes are Chaste, and The Old Dairy Farm.
